Cui aparțin bisericile consumeriste? II

Deoarece am primit sugestia să oferim observațiile lui Eugen Peterson (vezi articolul anterior) și în limba engleză, o facem în spațiul de mai jos:

If we have a nation of consumers, obviously the quickest and most effective way to get them into our congregation is to identify what they want and offer it to them, satisfy what they want and offer it to them, satisfy their fantasies, promise them the moon, recast the Gospel in consumer terms: entertainment, satisfaction, excitement, adventure, problem solving, whatever. This is the language we Americans grow up on, the language we understand. We are the world's champion consumers, so why shouldn't we have the state of the art consumer churches? ... We can't gather a God-fearing, God-worshiping congregation by cultivating a consumer-pleasing, commodity-oriented congregation. ...The cultivation of consumer spirituality is the antithesis of a sacrificial, 'deny yourself' congregation. A consumer church is an antichrist church.

Necazul este că majorității centrelor culturale intitulate mega-churches li se potrivește această descriere. Nu este un secret, că aceste centre culturale antichristice au fost începute de ideologi care se intitulează „păstori” care au făcut studii ale comunităților unde urmau să înceapă aceste biserici antichristice. Primul lucru care i-a interesat a fost să cunoască ce anume își doresc oamenii să aibe în „biserică”. Așa se face că de la început au oferit frecventatorilor ceea ce gâdilă urechile. Nu este de mirare că la ora actuală sunt pe drumul apostaziei deoarece au făcut pe placul mulțimilor care doresc „panem et circem.”
